Business
and best practice.
Business
Practices and Culture.
I have
the feeling that we could learn something good from Moslem
business practices.
As I'm not accustomed to them, I couldn't say.
However, their banking sytem sounds very like our "Christian"
one was before "modern" European Banks first started
during the 12th century, which was run by Jews (as the charging
of interest was seen as immoral to Christians at the time).
This is obviously the source of most anti-Jewish thought
and feelings. But we (should) know better today, it's thanks
to them that we have been able to develop out of the "Middle
Ages" and into the modern forward-looking society we
are.
Museltov!
How
about if the world, by way of the (new) UN, came up with
an agreement that would produce a world-wide Tax policy
so that there was fairness and justice throughout, and an
appropriate taxation regime would prevent all the "fat
cats" of the world paid their dues, and they could
not find any "tax-havens" or even tax avoidance
loop-holes, never mind tax-evasion.
This
way, as long as the extra money is used to fund proper positive
projects, this will benefit everyone.
Of
course, it would be much better if these super wealthy were
to bequeath their wealth to good causes voluntarily, (right
now, in fact, to help get us out of this mess), as have
the Rockefellers, Carnegies and Gates (among others) of
the world.
Such wealth is an immorality unless being used for good
causes.
We all need to get together and work this out,
or else we're going to lose most of it, and then there'll
have to be drastic solutions, or else there'll
be even more drastic, and even unthinkable
consequences.
Let's not sleepwalk into this. We need to get active and
pro-active.
Let's stop this slide down hill. If we all get together,
with Gordon, Peter and Barak, most European leaders, (now
we can trust the Russians as they can trust us), and all
other leaders who have the right unifying proposals-"Unity
of Purpose".
The Chinese have shown us what incredible feats can be achieved
with the right will and togetherness... though in a more
authoritarian way than we should need, or want.
Wipe
out the world's debt (as much as possible, and start afresh).
We need anew world financial system, that is open, effective
and prevents the abuses and terrible consequences
of unfettered individual and corporate greed, such as we've
just experienced.
Of
course, since I started writing this, we have had the G20
summit in London, and much of what I have written seems
to be coming true-at least regarding tax-havens!
And
the leaders of these countries all seem to realise that
we need this new spirit of togetherness, not only to get
us all out of our present mess, but to take us all forwards
to our mutually beneficial future, as partners who have
a mutual need to share and be in harmony with one another.
I do hope this continues and our bonds will continue to
strengthen...
