One
Nation Tories
The
name says it all. You consider the "lot" on both
sides of the fence, don't you? (or all sides, and
unity in any case)
Please,
David Cameron, Kenneth Clark, and all other "One Nation"
Tories, please leave your "safe house" and go
where you really belong, in the centre.
If you join New Labour, who have
shown you what to do, then you will be doing this country
the greatest service you can possibly perform.
The Lib-Dems could be invited too.
You could all then "create" a totally
new Party with a New Name, as long as it is inclusive of
both your identities, somehow or at least is agreed upon
by all, and symbolises" Unity "
- "The United Party"? (of NEW BRITAIN)?
This country, (as does every country in the world, especially
right now) needs to have the best brains of each field to
manage it/them.
The more the merrier - more choice, more competition-it's
healthy, and forces the cream to rise to the top, where
it belongs.
Most
people want to vote in the middle now. We know that both
parties have got closer together, anyway. Too many people,
however, don't like what the Tory party represents, and
this is going to be even more pronounced now, with what's
going on, just as Old Labour will be exerting it's
influence more on New Labour.
Right now! One Nation Tories, it is the time to jump ship
and get onto dry, safe land in the middle, with Gordon,
Peter, David, Alan and the rest.
I know that you are all friends anyway-it's been in the
newspapers and on the telly.
Of course you are friends. That's what happens when people
of a like mind meet!
JOIN TOGETHER WITH NEW LABOUR AND FORM THE MOST POWERFUL
POLITICAL ENTITY EVER SEEN IN THIS COUNTRY.
There is nothing shameful in changing allegiances or changing
your "position", especially if it's in everybody's
best interests!
If you leave it too long, the opportunity will be
missed, and possibly you, the Tories, will lose
the next election. But you won't if you all join together-we'll
all be winners, then!
You have already been asked by Tony
Blair (in 2001) to join him in New Labour. Of course
we can understand why you couldn't do that - join any "Labour"
Party - though the idea was good, and right. But you could,
now, create with them this new Party, with a new (joint)
identity and (inclusive) name, which you all can discuss
and agree on.
The
Lib Dems-the true and historic Party of the middle, could
be invited to join you, as mentioned earlier, but I don't
reckon it's absolutely necessary, as together, New Labour
and "One Nation" Tories will be unbeatable in
elections, as long as you have the right policies, which
I'm sure you will.
Plus, it's good to have other another party in the middle,
to keep you on your toes!
So then, with or without the Lib-Dems, for whose
position, I have always had an affinity, being
an "historical fence-sitter" and Middle Wayer).
We need PR, don't we? Then tactical
voting shouldn't be necessary, as you''ll have who you want
at the table and not have to vote for some other party,
just because you don't want the third party
to get into power!
It's all skewed, isn't it?
Why, in national elections where it counts most, should
we be torn between voting for either a party (and it's polices),
or a candidate (and his qualities)?
Again it doesn't feel right does it? Maybe it should be
back to the drawing board, to sort out a better political
system, along with all the other systems we appear to need
rather badly:
- Economic
system (world agreement necessary)
- Financial
system
(world agreement necessary)
- Business
system
(world agreement necessary)
- Taxation
system (world agreement necessary)
- Foreign
affairs
(include the UN here) ( ditto )
- Welfare
system. As we reform this system (reform,
not get rid of - remember the Baby!), and liberate
so much money for us to use for really good causes.
It will bring with it the concomitant "benefit"
(a useful word this one) of leading to:
-
"one hell ova" lot less crime, violence
and mayhem, as each gets to feel like a stake-holder
in society,
-
dignity, meaning and a sense of usefulness, along
with all able-bodied and able-minded people. You could
say that these people have somehow been robbed of
their independence for so long, really couldn't you?
Like a child, at least to some extent, it's not necessarily
their fault, is it?
If you let someone "off the hook", especially
over a long period of time, they'll get away with
a lot, perhaps even unwittingly. They just thought
it was normal as others were doing it too-it's human
nature, really isn't it? (It's the system, just like
it's the parent with an ADHD child.)
Long-term unemployed (or never employed),
bankers, tax avoiders, anyone.
We are all complicit in having let this fester
and deteriorate for so long.
- Health
system (thank goodness this one is just about
the best thing since apple-pie (in the sky)(every one
in the world wants one!. It's not free, as most people
keep on saying (why?) we pay for it out of our wages,
or salary...
...or we don't through our wages of sin!
Yes, our NHS is pretty well all right, except
for the pressure of so many more unhealthy people, plus
hugely expensive new treatments - nice and healthy - some
tweaking and prodding needed - and getting a bit of inspiration
from the commercial insurance world.
- Educational
system (now why is this last in the list? Surely
it should be the first, as it is surely the most important
thing of all? Well, it is, along with the economy, "stupid"!
Which, if this list formed a circle (think cycle of life,
here), would be right next door.
If we all were to teach our children well, to have confidence
in their abilities to make what they will of their lives,
and they take with them the right attitudes, positive
thinking, and caring for others and their environment
and everything, then they/we can all be a success, no
matter what they/we choose in life. (of course there will
always be ups and downs, but they can
be kept to an absolute minimum, when and where it really
counts-in the pocket, at school, and most importantly,
at home, where the most important unity resides, the family.
Not everyone wants to be a leader, or a businessman, or
even wealthy (each to their own).
Yes, here is another example of poor thinking - that there
need, or will always be, winners and losers.
So far this might seem to be the case, just as we thought
that there was just this (seeming) duality
to the Universe, we found that there was some tin' in
the "middle"!
I happen to think that this need not be so.
If you take a happy family (which is one area where too
many of us WASPS are somewhat lacking and really need
to try harder at "creating"), and multiply that,
and keep multiplying, and given that they are all good
neighbours (which we all could be, with no real problem,
as long as we have concern for them and share and do all
the things we tell our children to do. And we all have
the same "Unity of Purpose", which is to have
peace, prosperity, a roof over our head, food on the table
and so on, then we should all be pretty well catered for,
shouldn't we?
This positive cycle will continue then continue on and
on, getting better all the time. Granted, nothing is ever
absolutely perfect, but when it comes to really
important things, like oursleves , our families, our neighbours,
our communities, our nation, relationships with other
countries, and finally, our work, "GOOD
ENOUGH" is just not "good enough".
We have to do the very best we can.
Well, we can surely try harder, can't we?
